Follistatin 344 used for Muscle Growth :
Follistatin works by binding to and inhibiting transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) peptides such as myostatin which is responsible for regulating and limiting muscle growth. It’s also worth pointing out that myostatin may have a regulatory role in skeletal muscle fibrosis; too much myostatin can impair tissue function and cause chronic disease in vital organs, tissues, and bone marrow.
In additional to suppressing the degenerative properties of myostatin, follistatin also suppresses the pituitary gland synthesis and secretion of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). High FSH levels in men may indicate that testicles are not functioning correctly; this condition limits muscle growth, recovery, and normal hormonal function. However, FSH levels that are too low can also negatively impact health and reproductive capabilities.
Administering FS344 via a small virus (re: adeno-associated virus/AAV) can increase muscle size and strength in animal species ranging from mice to monkeys with no significant adverse effects on organs, reproductive capabilities, serum estradiol (re: primary female sex hormone), luteinizing hormone (LH), and FSH levels. When scientists administered follistatin in mice with spinal muscular atrophy, the mice experienced increased muscle mass, improved motor function, and a 30% longer lifespan compared to mice in the control group.

Follistatin is a single-chain gonadal protein that specifically inhibits follicle-stimulating hormone release. The single FST gene encodes two isoforms, FST317 and FST344 containing 317 and 344 amino acids respectively, resulting from alternative splicing of the precursor mRNA. In a study in which 37 candidate genes were tested for linkage and association with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hyperandrogenemia in 150 families, evidence was found for linkage between PCOS and follistatin. follistatin are expressed and subserve local regulatory roles in numerous extragonadal tissues, including brain, adrenal, bone marrow, and placenta but perhaps most notably in anterior pituitary-the classical target tissue for inhibin, the activin-follistatin system may play a key role in early embryogenesis. Follistatin binds directly to activin and functions as an activin antagonist.
